In Vietnamese culture, Lunar New Year is followed by mid-month ceremonies. The most important of these are the mid-January ceremony (Lunar January 15), mid-July ceremony and in particular mid-August ceremony, also known as the Moon Festival.
Inspired by familiar and cherished values of mid-month ceremonies as well as in honor of the traditional culture of Vietnam, designer Xuan Thu has released her new collection entitled “The Lunar.” The collection employs iconic color tones of folk festivals such as orange, yellow and especially vermillion, a color that symbolizes happy gatherings and reunion in Asian culture.
All products are manually embroidered on natural and user-friendly materials. Patterns are sketched by the designer herself and brought to fruition by craftsmen of an embroidery village in Thuong Tin. Accessories are made of decorative pieces of lacquer paintings and tassels that go well with contemporary fashion trends.
